Md. Shahidur Rahman Sikder

Md. Shahidur Rahman Sikder secured 10th position in medical admission test and completed his MBBS from Dhaka Medical College in July 2011. After completion of internship, he passed FCPS part 1 exam in surgery in January 2013 and completed 1 year of core surgical training at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital from January 2013 to December 2013.

He got chance in MS residency programme in Neurosurgery at BSMMU in session March 2014. Then he joined his BCS job and served 2 years in Upazilla Health Complex, Homna, Comilla. In December 2016 he again joined his MS course and passed in September 2021.

He passed MRCS from Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2018. After completing his MS degree in Neurosurgery, he was posted as Assistant Registrar in Endovascular and Stroke Neurosurgery at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital and still working there. He completed his fellowship in Microvascular, Endovascular and Skull Base Neurosurgery from Japan in 2023. He also completed Diploma in Lateral Skull Base Surgery in 2024 from World Federation of Skull Base Neurosurgery in Bengaluru, India.

He also participated in many workshops in neurosurgery and presented many specialized presentations on neurosurgery both in national and international platforms which were highly appreciated. He is skilled in Endoscopic, Microscopic and Endovascular neurosurgery. Now he has been performing wide range of neurosurgeries both Brain and Spine with the highest standard.

Experience

Paediatric Neurosurgeon at National Institute of Neurosciences & Hospital, Sher-E-Bangla Nagar, Agargaon Dhaka, June 2020 - Present

Performed a variety of paediatric brain surgeries like VP Shunt, ETV, Brain tumor surgery, Moyamoya surgery, Craniosynostosis operation, Encephalocele operation, Drainage of brain abscess, etc.
Pioneered to establish the one & only paediatric neurocare centre named Bangladesh Paediatric Neurocare Centre that has helped to save the lives of many children.
Presented at national and international conferences on various topics related to paediatric neurosurgery.
Completed CITI program as Biomedical Research Investigator under Harvard University, USA.
